Development in Bloomington is Booming

The City of Bloomington has seen a boom in development over the past few years.   Last year, in 2015, the City exceeded its previous record in new development by 30 percent.   In 2015, there were more than a billion dollars in new development and property renovations in Bloomington.

Mall of America’s latest addition was one of the largest development projects in 2015.  The addition included three retail levels, a 15-story J.W. Marriott Hotel, and a 10-story office building.   Also in this area, the IndiGO apartments started construction, and two hotels, Marriott TownePlace Suites and the Hyatt Regency opened for business in 2015.

Other developments in Bloomington included The Penn American district that featured a Hilton hotel, Fresh Thyme grocery store, and Red Robin restaurant.  The Park Place development at the corner of France Avenue and Old Shakopee in Bloomington also completed development with its anchor tenants, Willy McCoy’s opening for business in early 2016.   The City of Bloomington has received several other proposals for large development projects in Bloomington that will continue this growth over the upcoming years if the plans are approved.
